The Fillmore
Trampled by Turtles is back at it with a tour de force concert in the heart of New Orleans. Catch the six-piece folk band on Wednesday, January 22, '25, working the Fillmore crowd alongside special guest Call Me Spinster. Dip your ears into the other side of bluegrass music — fast and a little bit furious.
Popularly known for Billboard Bluegrass No. 1 albums, such as Palomino (2010) and Alpenglow (2022), Trampled by Turtles takes the tempo of rock and roll and pairs it with roots-inspired acoustics that’ll light a fire inside your soul. Grab this chance to hear some of their most-requested hits live, including "Codeine," "Whiskey," and "Ain’t No Use in Tryin’," performed with the skillful vigor you’d expect from a recipient of Minneapolis’ First Avenue star. So far, Trampled by Turtles has plotted 16 shows on their 2025 itinerary, each worth thrice the price of admission. Tickets? Click the link to get yours now before they all sell out!
Don’t let their name fool you. Trampled by Turtles picks up the pace in another year touring North America, now with several long-awaited festival appearances locked in. The bluegrass outfit has finally notched headlining slots in WinterWonderGrass and Rooster Walk after demand continuously grew through the years. But before we get to that, the band will begin their 16-city trip in the Big Easy on Wednesday, January 22nd. Join them at The Fillmore and experience a different breed of bluegrass featuring an opening act by Call Me Spinster!
Meet the band — Dave Simonett (guitar, lead vocals), Tim Saxhaug (bass), Dave Carroll (banjo), Erik Berry (mandolin), Ryan Young (fiddle), and Eamonn McLain (cello). Based in Duluth, Minnesota, Trampled by Turtles instills a rockstar energy in their performances, garnering them an avid following among roots and Americana circles. The group, world-renowned for their history of No. 1 Bluegrass albums (Stars and Satellites, Palomino, Life Is Good on the Open Road, and Alpenglow), will fire up your night with their uptempo melodies and soulful harmonizations. "Codeine," "Wait So Long," "Whiskey," and "Where Is My Mind?" — TBT’s frenetic style stands out in the hits fans still can’t get enough of. Hear their unique sound firsthand. Watch the First Avenue star honorees serenade New Orleans from the city’s foremost live music hotspot.
The newly-debuted Call Me Spinster quartet opens this show on a laidback note. Their first album (Potholes) offers an eclectic arrangement of hits, from its lead track "Feet Are Dirty" to "Mule" to "Burn the Boxes," setting the mood with genre-hopping dynamics before our main band ramps it up to a fevered stride.
